The Idols Are Coming Down!
The biggesgt problem in America today is idolatry. As a nation we have been exalting idols instead of exalting the name of Jesus Christ. We have made idols out of things, people, and sin. Idolatry is the #1 sin in the world today. God hates idols, but the idols are coming down.
An idol is anything or anyone that you love more than God. Idols are so prevalent in our society today that we have a television show called "American Idol." Ten years ago we would have never had such a TV program because an idol is such an ungodly thing, no one in their right mind would want to be considered an idol. But today, the idea of being considered an idol is highly sought after.
Idols are nothing new. Israel had idols and this was always their biggest downfall. Idolatry is what got Israel, God's chosen people, into more trouble with God than anything else. Whenever Israel stopped worshipping God and placed their affection on things, people and other nations, they fell hard. God is jealous and does not tolerate idolatry, especially from His people. To place anyone or anything before God is an outright slap in God's face because not only did God redeem us with the precious blood of His Jesus, he also blessed us and made America the great nation we are today. But we have rebelled against God and gone a-whoring after wealth and material possessions, people, and power. God owns everything. "The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof; the world and they that dwell therein." (Psalm 24:1) Everything belongs to God!
In I Samuel 5, the Philistines placed an idol beside the ark of the covenant. The next day they found the idol laying face down, so they stood it upright again. When they returned the following day, not only was the idol found face down, but its arms and head were broken off. What can be compared to God, the creator of heaven and earth? Who can we compare to the omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient God? I searched all over, can't find nobody like the Lord Jesus.
Idols have also shown up in the house of God. We have made idols out of pastor, preachers, and mega ministries. Many Christian leaders are in known sin, but they won't step down because they've exalted themselves above God and have made themselves above reproach. There are countless false profit$ today, who are saying things that God has not spoken. They prophe-lie for money and have been raping God's people financially. Countless preachers have been caught in sexual sin but refuse to be corrected because they don't want to let go of their prominent positions and extremely lucrative careers.
They have become idols in God's house. They flaunt their sins and parade themselves like proud peacocks, boasting of their fame, money, mansions, fleet of cars, and airpalnes. They engage in adulterous affairs without repenting. They never boast of the amount of souls they've won to the kingdom because they are not soul-winners. God hates idols because they stem from the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.
God is going to clean house in 2016. Just as He brought down the idols in I Samuel 5, He will do it again. God will bring down every high look and everyone or thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. Sexual sin has become the #1 idol in the U.S.today. No matter how perverted the act may be, people are still embracing sexual sin and perversion simply because it makes them feel good. Christians are also embracing this lustful ideology.
God has been pleading with His people to live holy and sanctified lives unto Him. Christians must return to holiness and righteousness. We will not go to heaven, if we do not live holy. "Without holiness, no man shall see the Lord." (Hebrews 12:14) Warning, if you have idols in your life, the idols are coming down in 2016. Everything that is not built upon the Rock, which is Jesus Christ, will be brought down. Your Christian lifestyle and actions must align with the word of God, if you want to be blessed because everything will be tried by fire. Only what you do for Christ will last.
