F. O. E.

My students taught me that the acronym "f. o. e." means "family over everything." I thought on this for a moment, and although it sounds good, I came to the conlcusion, that I can't agree with this saying, because of the words of Jesus.

One day when Jesus was ministering, "His mother and brethren stood without, desiring to speak to Him. Then one said unto HIm, 'Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with theee. But He answered and said unto Him that told Him, "Who is my mother? and who is my brethren? and He stretched forth His hand toward HIs disciples, and said, 'Behold my mother and brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother". (Matthew 12:47-50)

It has taken me many, many years to "get this", but I finally got it. As much as I love my biological family, those who are doing the will of my Father, are my true family.
